Volume 21

Sano and Mizuki walk home in silence, the thought of Sano actually liking her in a romantic sense coursing through Mizuki's head. Mizuki escapes to her bed as soon as they reach their dorm room. The next day, everyone's talking about Valentine's day. Nakao approaches Mizuki about her Valentine's day with Sano, and though she admits to giving him the chocolates, Nakao senses more went on than she wants to say. Mizuki can't seem to look Sano in the eyes...Later, the group visits a bowling center, thanks to Kayashima's recieving free tickets from admiring girls on Valentine's day. The group splits into teams, with Mizuki and Sano ending up together. While bowling goes on, Mizuki can't stop feeling nervous around Sano. Nakatsu tries to impress her but fails spectacularly, while Kayashima unexpectedly shows himself to be an excellent bowler.

At the end of the night, the group heads back to the dorms. Rain is pouring down and Mizuki gets separated from the others. Sano finds her, and the two take shelter next to a building. An uncomfortable conversation ensues, and Sano thanks Mizuki for the chocolates. Somehow, Mizuki gathers the courage to ask Sano about what he said the other day, about him taking the gift of chocolates as an expression of Mizuki "liking" him. He tells her he meant exactly what he said...but Mizuki's still confused. His answer just makes her more uncomfortable, and she finds herself avoiding him again...until he can't take it anymore and pulls her aside.

Sano finally decided to directly tell Mizuki that he's in love with her. Shocked, she can't reply, and Sano leaves. Later, Mizuki can't look him in the eyes again. She finds herself being comforted by Yuujirou, depressed because Sano doesn't know she's female (or so she thinks). But she decides she has to confront Sano. When she does, she can't bring herself to tell him the truth and runs off. The next day, she tries to act normal, even visiting Umeda and for once not talking about her problems.

That night, Mizuki tries to head to bed before Sano gets home, but he comes home early from practice, surprising her and hugging her from behind to keep her from running away. Mizuki can't keep it back anymore, and tells Sano she loves him too. Noe interrupts, calling them from outside the dorm, but before Mizuki can back off Sano kisses her. The next day, Umeda gets the truth out of her, and tells her she should tell Sano the truth about her gender. Mizuki decides to gain the confidence she needs she'll return to the dojo and train. Unfortunately Tennouji sees her!

Tennouji reports the incident to the other dorm heads, Nanba and Himejima. They decide there must be a girl hidden among the students. Meanwhile Mizuki and Sano are spending a quiet moment together. Mizuki realises she has to face the issue of her being female, and asks Sano if he prefers males. He freaks out a bit, but tells her what he told her before: that it doesn't matter to him if she's male or female. Later, the dorm heads are trying to figure out which student it could be while staking out near the dojo, waiting for the hidden female to arrive...Himejima wonders if it's Nakao, but Nanba shocks the both of them when he confirms Nakao is definately male, and definately lacks certain female attributes. Then the student shows up...and it's Mizuki!
